After being struck by a Bakersfield driver, you may be referred to The W Insurance Company.
You may have never heard of W Insurance or know where to go. But the way you file your claim can make a big difference in the support you receive…especially if you are injured.
You should discuss your options with a real Bakersfield car accident lawyer instead of letting a W Insurance adjuster decide what you should receive for recovery. Contact us to set up a free case consultation.
Filing an Online Claim with W Car Insurance
People may not have heard of The W Insurance Company because it used to be known as Wawanesa Insurance. Based in San Diego, CA, the insurer continues to cover California drivers.
Like Wawanesa car insurance, W Insurance doesn’t allow online claims filing. If you are struck by a covered driver, you’ll need to call 888-929-2252.
The website does go over some of the information you’ll need when calling:
- Where and when the accident or incident took place
- Contact information for everyone involved
- Insurance information for everyone involved
- Information about the vehicles involved (Year/Make/Model, license plate, VIN #, color, etc.)
- Description of what happened
- Other pertinent information if available such as time of day, flow of traffic, information for witnesses, etc.
- Photos of vehicle damage and/or the scene of the accident
- Names and badge numbers of any officers who responded to the incident
- A copy of the accident report if there is one
When You May Want a Lawyer to Handle W Insurance
Have you suffered serious injuries because of a reckless driver’s mistake? It’s a good time to contact a lawyer for a free meet-up.
If your collision only involved car damage or very minor injuries, you may not need a lawyer’s help. Accidents involving injuries like broken bones, head trauma, or neck and back injuries are a different matter.
These injuries come with a much higher price tag, and that makes car insurers work even harder to avoid blame. They pull out a playbook of tactics to help them reject your claim, or to get you to accept less than you need to fully recover.
Your lawyer fully investigates your accident and gathers the evidence necessary to leave W Insurance no wiggle room. Maison Law locks in the evidence and who was to blame. We can also often secure you much more in injury support than you could going it alone.
Battling Car Insurance Companies with the Evidence
Large Insurers like W Insurance can delay your claim while your medical bills pile up. They can question who caused an accident, even when it’s quite clear who was at fault. They may downplay your injuries.
It’s all an effort to find excuses to reject your claim, or to offer you less on a settlement check. The best defense is having strong evidence. That can be evidence you pick up at the scene, and the evidence that emerges when a skilled attorney investigates your crash.
On the scene, you should contact 911 first and call for an ambulance if anyone is hurt. Then, if it’s safe and you feel strong enough, try to collect these important details:
- Take photos of the scene
- Give the Bakersfield Police or the CHP a full account of what you saw before the crash
- Get witness contact information
- See if any other drivers had dash cams rolling
- Scan the area for surveillance cameras on businesses and homes
- Swap information with the other driver unless the responding officer collects it for you
- Alert your own car insurance company about the collision, even if you weren’t to blame
Medical evidence is also key. You should schedule an appointment with your own doctor, even if you’ve been to the ER. Get all injuries examined and documented. You don’t want the car insurance company claiming you really aren’t hurt all that bad.
