Motorcyclist Injured in Hwy 9 Crash near Sempervirens Point, Boulder Creek in the Santa Cruz Mountains

Santa Cruz County, CA – On the evening of Tuesday, June 9, 2026, a single-vehicle motorcycle collision left a rider airlifted with major injuries in the Santa Cruz Mountains, according to KSBW.

The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 7:00 PM on Highway 9 south of Sempervirens Point near Boulder Creek.

Authorities said a 45-year-old San Jose man was riding a gray 2025 Kawasaki motorcycle northbound on Highway 9 when he lost control of the vehicle for reasons still under investigation.

The rider traveled south following the crash and struck a metal guardrail east of the northbound lanes before coming to rest on a dirt embankment. He sustained major injuries and was transported to a local hospital by air ambulance.

Investigators determined that drugs and alcohol are not suspected to have been factors in the collision. The investigation remains ongoing.

Single-Vehicle Collisions

In some cases, investigations may reveal that even in a single-vehicle accident, nearby drivers or unsafe road features share some responsibility. California’s comparative negligence rule means that, even if those injured in accidents are found partially at fault, they may still be eligible to receive partial compensation for damages through a personal injury claim.
