According to a Your Central Valley report, the accident happened around 1:35 a.m. at the intersection of Fern Avenue and Maroa Avenue in Fresno on the morning of February 7, 2024.
When Fresno Police arrived at the scene, they discovered that a Ford Fiesta was traveling in the area when the driver left the road and collided with two people who were in the parking lot at the nearby Dollar Tree. Police believe that the 20-year-old female driver was under the influence at the time of the accident.
Paramedics and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene following the collision. The adult male pedestrian sustained various traumatic injuries and was tragically pronounced dead on scene. The adult female pedestrian was rushed to a local hospital for treatment, though her condition is currently unknown.
The roadway was blocked for some time following the accident. Police took the driver into custody on charges related to DUI and the death of one victim.
No further details have been released but Fresno Police continue to investigate.
