The Rights Of Passengers In A DUI Crash In Bakersfield

Bakersfield roads at night can be very dangerous places for even careful motorists. It’s a time when more people may be driving recklessly and under the influence of alcohol. These risky behaviors can lead to a crash and leave innocent victims facing the severe consequences.

Driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol can make it hard for other drivers to anticipate ill-advised moves in the lanes and at intersections.

Bakersfield emergency responders see the terrible effects of these irresponsible choices each month. In 2019, the city saw 182 alcohol-related accidents. Those collisions resulted in the tragic loss of six lives and left another 233 people injured.

Support for Bakersfield Victims and Families in DUI Accidents

Victims of DUI accidents can pay the ultimate price for a driver’s mistake and families will be left behind to mourn as they attempt to find justice after a tragedy. Families will find themselves without the emotional and financial support of a lost loved one, not just in the present but in the years to come.

To make sure close relatives are protected from the costs of hospital bills, funeral expenses and future economic hardships a wrongful death lawsuit can be filed. This would make sure an at-fault driver’s insurance company is put on notice of every hardship the family has endured and will endure and what sort of compensation is expected.

Surviving victims and their families facing the incredible price of recovery can file a claim for damages against an insurance company to find similar help after an accident. Passengers in the vehicles injured by a DUI driver can also file a claim for damages.

Passengers may even have to require help from the insurance of the driver of the vehicle they were in. A passenger may feel unsure about filing against a driver they know, but this claim generally isn’t personal. The claim will target the driver’s insurance company. It’s why drivers pay insurance premiums. They should want to provide help to anyone they’ve hurt in an accident.
