Head-On Collisions in Tulare County

A careless driver can veer into the path of another vehicle and leave no chance to avoid one of the most damaging types of impacts possible. Head-on collisions can instantly double the force involved in an accident by combining the momentum of both cars involved leaving victims at extreme risk.

The Highway Patrol responds to the aftermath of these dangerous crashes each year. California’s Transportation Injury Mapping System (TIMS) recorded 148 accidents involving head-on collisions in Tulare County over 2019. Those accidents tragically claimed the lives of 19 people and were responsible for 269 people being injured.

Support for Tulare County Victims in Head-On Collisions

Accidents involving a head-on collision can leave victims to heal and families to grieve the loss of loved ones. In the aftermath of any accident, there will be people left to struggle with the costs of medical care, funeral expenses, all while missing the financial support from lost hours at work.

If a family lost a beloved relative to the carelessness of a driver, they are permitted to file a wrongful death lawsuit. This claim would ask for compensation from the responsible driver and his or her insurance company.

A settlement with the insurance company or a winning trial verdict could provide financial security for family members left behind. A spouse or domestic partner, children of the victim, or sometimes other relatives can file this claim on behalf of the entire family. A family attorney can also assist in filing this claim and help in making sure the family receives the maximum compensation available.

Injured victims in a head-on collision who aren’t at fault for their accident can file a claim for damages against the driver to blame. This civil lawsuit would ask for help with medical bills and any rehabilitation necessary. It’s important to demand compensation now for the possibility of expenses down the road. Victims can face disability and need new medical equipment or even require surgery months or years into the future.
