Visalia recorded 15 tragic traffic deaths in 2023. The city saw 11 traffic deaths in 2022 and 8 in 2021.

Visalia is the largest city in Tulare County and about twice the size of the next most populous cities locally. In total, Visalia documented almost 400 accidents involving injuries in 2023.

  • The City of Tulare saw 86 accidents involving injury and 11 traffic fatalities in 2023
  • Porterville recorded 272 fatal accidents but, according to TIMS, saw no fatal accidents in 2023

How Many People Die in Accidents in Tulare County Each Year?

Tulare County has averaged around 83 deaths annually over the past five years (2019-2023). That’s according to TIMS data.

The County also saw a jump in fatalities when compared to pre-pandemic (2020) numbers.

Tulare County documented 91 traffic deaths in 2021. 86 in 2022. 85 in 2023.

  • Tulare County was the scene of 2,029 accidents involving injury for the year. That was up from 1,948 serious accidents in 2022.
  • California recorded 3,564 lives lost to traffic accidents in 2023. According to TIMS that was a reduction in deaths when compared to 2022’s shocking 4,214 fatalities.

What Leads to Fatal Accidents in Visalia?

Busy roads and narrow lanes make driving in Visalia a risk at times. Much of the danger could be avoided if drivers avoided careless and reckless behavior.
