Hormoz Kermani, 72, of Oregon, Killed in Road 274, Fawn Point Ln Crash in Madera County

Madera County, CA – In the early hours of Friday, May 1, 2026, a single-vehicle collision resulted in the death of Hormoz Kermani, 72, of Oregon, in the Bass Lake area, according to ABC30, with additional reporting from CHP Fatal.

The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place just before 4:00 AM on Road 274 at Fawn Point Lane.

Authorities said Kermani was driving a silver Dodge Ram pickup truck northbound on Road 274 when he was unable to navigate a sharp curve in the roadway. The vehicle departed the road, struck a tree, and rolled down an embankment, coming to rest overturned.

Kermani was pinned inside the vehicle following the impact. CAL FIRE and emergency medical services responded to the scene and worked to extricate him, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The coroner was notified and responded. A tow truck was dispatched from Coarsegold to recover the vehicle following the conclusion of on-scene proceedings.

Investigators determined that drugs and alcohol were not factors in the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.

Single-Vehicle Collisions

In some cases, investigations may reveal that even in a single-vehicle accident, nearby drivers or unsafe road features share some responsibility. California’s comparative negligence rule means that, even if those injured in accidents are found partially at fault, they may still be eligible to receive partial compensation for damages through a wrongful death claim.
