Atascadero, CA – On the afternoon of Friday, February 13, 2026, a two-vehicle collision resulted in the death of an elderly female passenger and left two drivers injured, according to The San Luis Obispo Tribune.
The Atascadero Police Department reports that the accident took place around 3:00 PM in the 9000 block of El Camino Real.
Authorities said police officers and firefighters responded to reports of a serious crash requiring extrication. Upon arrival, first responders found an overturned sedan blocking the sidewalk and a pickup truck positioned on an embankment nearby. Emergency crews pronounced the passenger of the overturned sedan dead at the scene. Officials identified the victim only as an adult elderly female.
The driver of the overturned sedan was extricated from the wreckage and transported to a hospital with major injuries. The driver of the pickup truck was also taken to a hospital and was reported to have sustained moderate injuries.
Investigators remained at the scene for several hours to document evidence and examine the circumstances surrounding the crash. El Camino Real was closed during the investigation and reopened at approximately 10:23 PM, according to police.
Authorities have not released additional details about the cause of the collision and advised members of the public to contact the Police Department with any relevant information.
