El Dorado Hills, CA – On the afternoon of Tuesday, February 10, 2026, a single-vehicle crash resulted in the death of a man in his 20s after he was ejected from a pickup truck, according to KCRA, with additional reporting from CHP Fatal.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 3:26 PM near eastbound Highway 50 and Bass Lake Road.
Authorities said the pickup truck was traveling in the fast lane of eastbound Highway 50 when it lost control, skidded across all lanes, and crashed through a guardrail. The vehicle then went down an embankment and became airborne over an approximately 100-foot drop. The truck was not visible from the roadway and was reported to be smoking after coming to rest.
CPR was initiated at the scene, and the incident was initially classified as involving major injuries before being updated to a fatality. The driver, who was the sole occupant, was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials indicated that witness accounts suggest speed may have been a factor in the crash.
All four lanes were temporarily shut down as emergency crews responded, and tow services were requested. Caltrans assisted with lane closures and traffic control. By approximately 6:04 PM, authorities reported that all lanes had reopened following the completion of on-scene procedures and vehicle recovery.
