Bakersfield, CA – On the morning of Friday, October 17, 2025, one man died in a single-vehicle crash on northbound Highway 99, according to KGET.
The collision was reported just before 10 AM near Golden State Avenue and Olive Drive.
Investigators said the driver of a gray 2012 Toyota Camry was traveling north when the vehicle veered toward the edge of the roadway for unknown reasons. The Toyota struck a guardrail, lost control, and collided with the center divider.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene and found the driver unresponsive. Despite immediate aid, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
No passengers were in the vehicle at the time of the crash, and no other vehicles were involved.
Authorities have not yet released the identity of the driver pending notification of next of kin. It remains unclear whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash.
The California Highway Patrol continues to investigate the cause of the fatal accident.
Single-Vehicle Collisions
In some cases, investigations may reveal that even in a single-vehicle accident, nearby drivers or unsafe road features share some responsibility. California’s Comparative Negligence rule means that, even if those injured in accidents are found partially at fault, they may still be eligible to receive partial compensation for damages.
