Fresno, CA – On the morning of Tuesday, September 9, 2025, a three-vehicle crash involving a big rig left multiple people injured and set all vehicles on fire, according to KSEE.

The California Highway Patrol reports that the collision took place around 9:15 AM on northbound Highway 99 near Herndon Avenue.

Investigators said the crash occurred after traffic slowed due to a separate incident on Highway 99 in Madera County. A big rig hauling a trailer stopped in the backup. A car and a pickup truck traveling behind the big rig failed to stop in time and collided with the rear of the truck.

The impact caused the car and pickup to erupt in flames. Fire quickly spread to the big rig and its trailer. Emergency crews responded to contain the fire and treat the injured. CHP officers confirmed that several people sustained injuries in the collision.

Authorities noted that the drivers’ use of seatbelts likely prevented fatalities. Officials did not immediately release the number of injured individuals or the severity of their injuries.

The California Highway Patrol continues to investigate the sequence of events leading to the fiery crash.
