Fresno County, CA – On the afternoon of Monday, August 25, 2025, a two-vehicle crash involving a big rig at a rural Fresno County intersection killed Diego Gutierrez Mogollan, 45, of Sanger, according to The Fresno Bee.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports that the crash happened at about 1:15 PM at the intersection of North Avenue and Temperance Avenue.
Investigators stated that Gutierrez Mogollan drove a Hyundai Elantra westbound on North Avenue and approached the intersection with Temperance. At the same time, a Freightliner big rig traveled eastbound on North Avenue toward the same intersection. Officers explained that stop signs control traffic on North Avenue for vehicles traveling east and west, while northbound and southbound traffic on Temperance does not stop.
According to CHP, Gutierrez Mogollan attempted to make a left turn at the intersection and crossed into the path of the oncoming big rig. The impact pushed both the Hyundai and the Freightliner southeast off the roadway and into an orange orchard located at the corner of the intersection.
Emergency responders arrived quickly and found the Hyundai with severe damage in the orchard. Paramedics checked Gutierrez Mogollan and confirmed that he died at the scene. Authorities later identified him as a resident of Sanger. The truck driver escaped injury and cooperated with investigators.
Officers conducted an initial review of the crash and stated that they do not believe alcohol or drugs played a role. CHP continues to examine the circumstances of the collision and encourages any witnesses to provide information.
