Fatal Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-5 near Hwy 33 in Fresno County

Fresno County, CA – On the morning of Thursday, April 10, 2025, a four-vehicle collision resulted in fatal injuries to a 21-year-old woman from San Jose, according to KSEE.

The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 5:20 AM on southbound Interstate 5, just south of Highway 33.

A 1997 Honda Del Sol driven by a 24-year-old man from San Jose was traveling southbound when it veered to the right and began moving along the shoulder of the highway.

At the same time, a 49-year-old man from Truckee was driving a 2016 Nissan Rogue along the right shoulder. The Honda struck the left rear of the Nissan, causing the Honda to spin southeast across lanes and forcing the Nissan to stop along the shoulder.

As the Honda rotated across traffic, a 27-year-old man from Los Banos, driving a 2021 Hyundai Sonata, approached from behind. The Hyundai struck the right rear of the Honda, which then hit a cable barrier and came to rest. The Hyundai also veered to the right and stopped along the shoulder.

Moments later, a 22-year-old woman from Mendota, driving a 2002 Toyota Camry, approached the scene and collided with a displaced tire from the Honda. The Toyota skidded and came to a stop after the impact.

A 21-year-old female passenger in the Honda was transported by Sky Life air ambulance to Community Regional Medical Center, where she later died from her injuries. Her name has not yet been released by authorities.

Six other individuals involved in the crash sustained injuries and were also transported to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment.

CHP stated that the cause of the crash remains under investigation. It is not yet known whether drugs or alcohol were factors. Anyone with information is asked to contact the California Highway Patrol.

Personal Injury Claims & Comparative Negligence

Determining fault in a collision can involve multiple factors, and under California’s Comparative Negligence rule, several parties can share partial responsibility. Should evidence reveal that another party contributed to the injuries, victims may be eligible to file a Personal Injury Claim with the responsible party’s insurance, which can provide compensation for medical bills and lost wages during recovery.
