Avery Lockliear, 26, Injured in Hwy 46, Jardine Rd Crash in SLO County

San Luis Obispo County, CA – On the evening of Friday, April 4, 2025, a two-vehicle collision resulted in major injuries to Avery Lockliear, 26, of Paso Robles, according to The San Luis Obispo Tribune.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports that the accident took place around 8:52 PM near the intersection of Highway 46 and Jardine Road.

Preliminary investigations suggest that Lockliear was driving eastbound on Highway 46 in the left turn lane when she reportedly attempted a left turn and entered the path of an oncoming vehicle.

The other vehicle, driven by Juan Lopez, 65, also of Paso Robles, was traveling westbound on Highway 46 and was also in the left turn lane, approaching Jardine Road. According to CHP, Lockliear failed to yield the right of way, resulting in a collision with Lopez’s vehicle.

Lockliear was transported to Adventist Health Sierra Vista Hospital with major injuries. CHP investigators noted that neither drugs nor alcohol appeared to be factors in the incident. The crash remains under investigation.

Failure to Yield

In California, as in other states, “failure to yield” means that you didn’t give the right of way to the right person at the right time. As such, failure to yield or stop is closely related to the “right of way.” When a motorist fails to yield, stop or otherwise avoid an accident and causes a crash, he or she can be held liable for injuries and damages suffered by a victim.

Personal Injury Claims & Comparative Negligence

Determining fault in a collision can involve multiple factors, and under California’s Comparative Negligence rule, several parties can share partial responsibility. Should evidence reveal that another party contributed to the injuries, victims may be eligible to file a Personal Injury Claim with the responsible party’s insurance, which can provide compensation for medical bills and lost wages during recovery.
