San Jose, CA – On the early morning of Sunday, March 2, 2025, a single-vehicle crash on San Felipe Road resulted in serious injuries and a fatality, according to CHP Fatal.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports that the accident was first detected at approximately 12:22 AM when an iPhone crash detection system sent an automatic alert indicating a severe collision likely resulted in injuries. At the time of the notification, it was unclear how many occupants were in the vehicle.
Emergency responders located the wrecked vehicle approximately 30 feet off the roadway and determined that at least one occupant suffered severe injuries, including open fractures to their left arm. The injured individual was transported to Valley Medical Center for treatment.
Another individual person in the accident succumbed to the injuries at the crash site. Authorities will release the name of the deceased pending notification of their family.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation as officials examine potential factors, including speed, impairment, and road conditions.
Single-Vehicle Collisions
In some cases, investigations may reveal that even in a single-vehicle accident, nearby drivers or unsafe road features share some responsibility. California’s Comparative Negligence rule means that, even if those injured in accidents are found partially at fault, they may still be eligible to receive partial compensation for damages.
Passenger Liability
Driver liability insurance covers both those outside the vehicle and passengers inside. While it can be emotionally difficult to file a Personal Injury claim against someone close to the victim, the financial challenges after an accident can be overwhelming.
A skilled personal injury attorney can help families pursue proper compensation for their loss by handling these legal complexities and negotiating with insurance companies, who always try to reduce payouts on claims they cannot deny.
