Modesto, CA – On the night of Monday, February 24, 2025, a single-vehicle collision on River Road claimed the life of 33-year-old Jovanna Serafin of Modesto, according to The Modesto Bee.
The Modesto Police Department reports that the accident took place around 11:45 PM in the 1000 block of River Road.
Officers arrived to find Serafin unresponsive inside a white vehicle that had crashed into an oak tree. Emergency responders attempted to assess her condition but confirmed that she had died at the scene from her injuries.
Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the crash. Investigators with the department’s Traffic Safety Unit are examining factors that may have contributed, including speed, road conditions, and any possible impairment.
Single-Vehicle Collisions
In some cases, investigations may reveal that even in a single-vehicle accident, nearby drivers or unsafe road features share some responsibility. California’s Comparative Negligence rule means that, even if those injured in accidents are found partially at fault, they may still be eligible to receive partial compensation for damages.
