Woman Injured in Crash with Fresno Police Vehicle at Shields, Fruit Ave

Fresno, CA – In the early morning hours of Tuesday, February 18, 2025, a collision involving a Fresno police officer and another driver resulted in injuries, according to CBS13.

The Fresno Police Department reports that the accident took place around 3:30 AM at the intersection of Shields and Fruit Avenues.

Authorities say the officer was responding to a call when their patrol vehicle collided with an SUV. The officer was not using emergency lights or sirens at the time of the crash.

The driver of the SUV, identified only as a woman, sustained injuries and was transported to a local hospital for evaluation. The officer involved in the crash was also taken to the hospital as a precaution.

Investigators are working to determine what led to the collision, including the speed of both vehicles and the direction each was traveling before impact. It remains unclear whether driver intoxication played a role.

Following the crash, authorities shut down the intersection to allow for an investigation and to clear debris from the roadway.

Fresno police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. Anyone with information is urged to contact the department.

Personal Injury Claims

Determining fault in a collision can involve multiple factors, and under California’s Comparative Liability rule, several parties can share partial responsibility. A personal injury attorney can play a crucial role in helping victims establish legal responsibility after a traffic accident.
