When Bakersfield officials arrived on scene, they discovered that a semi-truck, a Nissan Frontier pickup truck, and a possible tractor became involved in an accident in the afternoon hours. Police did not comment on the exact circumstances leading up to the accident.

Several responders, including EMS and fire crews, were dispatched to the scene following the accident. One person sustained severe injuries as a result of the accident. Another party was taken to Kern Medical Center with minor injuries but are expected to recover.

A portion of the road was blocked at the intersection for some time after the accident.
