A child sustained injuries in a pedestrian accident at an intersection in Fresno on Thursday afternoon following school. According to a Your Central Valley report, the accident took place at the intersection of Weldon Avenue and West Avenue at 4:10 p.m. on August 31, 2023.
When Fresno Police arrived on scene, they discovered that a 12-year-old girl was struck by a pickup truck on her way home from school. The driver was traveling south on West Avenue and did not see the child in the crosswalk until it was too late. The truck struck the pedestrian and the driver immediately came to a stop.
Paramedics were dispatched to the scene to assist the child after the accident. The 12-year-old was rushed to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries. EMS crews reported that she was conscious when she was taken to the hospital.
The road was blocked in multiple lanes at the intersection following the accident.
