Hwy 99, Ventura Ave Crash Kills Zachary White, 35, of Clovis

Fresno, CA – On the morning of Saturday, July 4, 2026, a series of collisions resulted in the death of Zachary White, 35, of Clovis, after his vehicle went airborne and landed on Highway 99, according to KSEE/KGPE.

The Fresno Police Department reports that the accident began around 11:28 AM near Ventura Avenue.

Authorities said White was driving eastbound on Ventura Avenue when he struck another vehicle at the intersection of Ventura Avenue and B Street. White allegedly failed to stop and continued eastbound, striking a second vehicle at Ventura Avenue and C Street.

His vehicle then traveled onto an embankment near Highway 99. The impact reportedly caused White to veer right, become airborne, flip over, and land on the freeway near the center divider.

White was pronounced dead at the scene. The Fresno County Coroner’s Office formally identified him following the crash.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Wrongful Death Claims & Comparative Negligence

Determining fault in a collision can involve multiple factors, and under California’s comparative negligence rule, several parties can share partial responsibility.

Should someone else be found even partly responsible for the death, the family may be able to file a wrongful death claim against the at-fault driver’s insurance. This can provide compensation to help cover medical bills, funeral expenses, and the loss of income to support the family of the deceased.
