San Jose, CA – On the evening of Saturday, May 3, 2026, a series of collisions involving seven vehicles left several people hospitalized, according to KRON.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 11:15 PM on southbound State Route 87 near Curtner Avenue.
Authorities said responding officers determined that the seven-vehicle crash had resulted from three separate collisions. Several occupants were transported to local hospitals for treatment of their injuries, the severity of which had not been confirmed at the time of reporting. None of the injuries appeared to be life-threatening.
All traffic was diverted to Curtner Avenue while officers worked the scene, with lanes closed for approximately two hours. Investigators determined that alcohol and drug impairment were not factors in the crash.
The investigation remains ongoing.
Personal Injury Claims & Comparative Negligence
Determining fault in a collision can involve multiple factors, and under California’s comparative negligence rule, several parties can share partial responsibility. Should evidence reveal that another party contributed to the injuries, victims may be eligible to file a personal injury claim with the responsible party’s insurance, which can provide compensation for medical bills and lost wages during recovery.
