Kern County, CA – On the morning of Wednesday, May 6, 2026, a single-vehicle collision resulted in the death of a 21-year-old Delano man, according to KGET, with additional reporting from CHP Fatal.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 7:50 AM on Woollomes Avenue west of Browning Road.
Authorities said the man was driving a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado westbound on Woollomes Avenue when, for reasons still under investigation, the vehicle veered off the roadway and crashed into almond trees on the north side of the road. The driver was ejected from the vehicle and sustained major injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators have not determined whether alcohol or drugs were contributing factors in the crash. Anyone with information about the crash is encouraged to contact the CHP Bakersfield office. The investigation remains ongoing.
Single-Vehicle Collisions
In some cases, investigations may reveal that even in a single-vehicle accident, nearby drivers or unsafe road features share some responsibility. California’s comparative negligence rule means that, even if those injured in accidents are found partially at fault, they may still be eligible to receive partial compensation for damages through a wrongful death claim.
