Fresno, CA – On the afternoon of Monday, February 23, 2026, a multi-vehicle collision resulted in injuries of unknown severity after a driver allegedly ran a red light, according to KSEE.
The Fresno Police Department reports that the accident took place around 1:30 PM at Friant Road and Shepard Avenue.
Authorities said a white crossover traveling on Friant Road allegedly entered the intersection against a red signal. The vehicle proceeded into the path of a blue sedan and a white truck that were making a left turn onto Friant Road.
The sedan and the truck collided with the side of the crossover. Following the impact, the crossover came to rest on the center median.
Emergency personnel responded to the intersection and assessed those involved. Officials have not released details regarding the number of people injured or the extent of their injuries.
The intersection has been the site of prior serious collisions in recent years. The circumstances surrounding Monday’s crash remain under investigation as authorities review evidence and determine any contributing factors.
Ongoing Investigations
Victims of traffic accidents and their families should be aware that authorities may fail to note or even misinterpret critical evidence at a crash site. One of the services that a Personal Injury Attorney can provide is to pursue follow-up investigations, which can reveal additional evidence to correct any errors made by previous investigators.
Stop Sign Laws
California Law requires drivers to come to a complete stop at a Stop sign (California Vehicle Code 22450). Drivers may only enter the intersection when it appears safe for all parties to do so (California Vehicle Code 21802).
Personal Injury Claims & Comparative Negligence
Determining fault in a collision can involve multiple factors, and under California’s Comparative Negligence rule, several parties can share partial responsibility. Should evidence reveal that another party contributed to the injuries, victims may be eligible to file a Personal Injury Claim with the responsible party’s insurance, which can provide compensation for medical bills and lost wages during recovery.
