Tulare County, CA – On the morning of Saturday, January 31, 2026, a multi-vehicle traffic collision involving dozens of motorists resulted in injuries to ten people, according to KSEE.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 8:20 AM near Avenue 24 on Highway 99.
Authorities said the incident involved a chain reaction of crashes in both the northbound and southbound lanes of Highway 99 near the community of Earlimart, ultimately impacting a total of 59 vehicles.
CHP stated that the scale of the collision prompted a full closure of the highway between Avenue 24 and the Kern County line while emergency crews responded, and injured occupants were evaluated. Nine individuals were treated for minor injuries at the scene or transported for further medical care, while one person sustained moderate injuries requiring additional attention.
Fire crews from Kern County Fire, Tulare County Fire, and Visalia City Fire assisted CHP officers with rescue efforts, scene management, and clearing disabled vehicles. CHP later confirmed that all lanes were reopened after the injured were assisted and debris was removed.
The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash remains ongoing.
Personal Injury Claims & Comparative Negligence
Determining fault in a collision can involve multiple factors, and under California’s Comparative Negligence rule, several parties can share partial responsibility. Should evidence reveal that another party contributed to the injuries, victims may be eligible to file a Personal Injury Claim with the responsible party’s insurance, which can provide compensation for medical bills and lost wages during recovery.
