Bakersfield, CA – On the afternoon of Tuesday, November 25, 2025, a motorcycle and van collided in northwest Bakersfield, leaving the rider with major injuries, according to KBAK.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the crash happened shortly after 3:00 PM near the intersection of Renfro Road and Greatest Place, just south of Rosedale Highway.
Investigators said a 56-year-old man driving a white van northbound on Renfro Road began a left turn at about 10 miles per hour. At the same time, a 54-year-old motorcyclist was traveling southbound at an unknown speed.
According to initial evidence of the accident, the van appears to have turned directly in front of the motorcycle, prompting the rider to swerve in an attempt to avoid the collision. Despite the evasive maneuver, the motorcycle struck the van, resulting in significant trauma to the rider.
Emergency crews transported the motorcyclist to Kern Medical with major injuries. The van driver was not hurt.
CHP said impairment is not suspected, and the investigation into the cause of the crash remains ongoing.
Ongoing Investigations
Victims of traffic accidents and their families should be aware that authorities may fail to note or even misinterpret critical evidence at a crash site. One of the services that a Personal Injury Attorney can provide is to pursue follow-up investigations, which can reveal additional evidence to correct any errors made by previous investigators.
Wrongful Death Claims & Comparative Negligence
Determining fault in a collision can involve multiple factors, and under California’s Comparative Negligence rule, several parties can share partial responsibility.
Should someone else be found even partly responsible for the death, the family may be able to file a Wrongful Death claim against the at-fault driver’s insurance. This can provide compensation to help cover medical bills, funeral expenses, and the loss of income to support the family of the deceased.
