Fresno, CA – On the morning of Sunday, October 5, 2025, David Solomon, 27, a California Army National Guard soldier, lost his life in a single-vehicle crash in Fresno County, according to The Fresno Bee.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the crash occurred just after 9:00 AM on Tollhouse Road, just east of Van Fleet Road. CHP and fire personnel responded to the scene, and a CHP helicopter on a nearby training flight arrived overhead within two minutes of the call.
Authorities found Solomon dead in the vehicle at the scene. CHP spokesperson Mike Salas said Solomon had been traveling east on Tollhouse Road in a Lexus ISC sedan when the vehicle veered off the south roadway edge while negotiating a left-hand curve. The Lexus collided with a tree, overturned, and came to rest on its roof in a dry creek bed.
Salas noted that Solomon was scheduled to report for duty at the Cal Fire station in Tollhouse at 8:00 AM. When he did not arrive, fellow soldiers began searching and discovered the crash site. Alcohol is not believed to have been a factor in the collision.
A ceremonial escort was requested to transport Solomon’s body to the Fresno County Coroner’s Office. CHP and fire personnel were present during the transfer to honor the fallen soldier. The California Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances of the crash.
Ongoing Investigations
Victims of traffic accidents and their families should be aware that authorities may fail to note or even misinterpret critical evidence at a crash site. One of the services that a Personal Injury Attorney can provide is to pursue follow-up investigations, which can reveal additional evidence to correct any errors made by previous investigators.
Single-Vehicle Collisions
In some cases, investigations may reveal that even in a single-vehicle accident, nearby drivers or unsafe road features share some responsibility. California’s Comparative Negligence rule means that, even if those injured in accidents are found partially at fault, they may still be eligible to receive partial compensation for damages.
