Fresno, CA – On the evening of Monday, October 20, 2025, a two-vehicle collision west of Fresno claimed the life of Cesar Ochoa, 30, of Kerman, according to The Fresno Bee.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the crash occurred around 8:00 PM at the intersection of Butte Avenue and American Avenue.
Investigators said Ochoa was driving a truck south on Butte Avenue when it appears he may have failed to stop at a posted sign and struck a car traveling west through the uncontrolled intersection at American Avenue.
The impact sent the car into a nearby dirt field, where it rolled at least once. Ochoa’s truck also left the roadway, entering a field and striking a power pole guide wire before coming to a stop.
Authorities said Ochoa exited his vehicle but soon collapsed at the scene. He was airlifted to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno, where he later died from his injuries. The other driver was hospitalized with minor injuries.
CHP reported that both drivers were wearing seatbelts and that alcohol and drugs are not believed to be factors in the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.
