Bakersfield, CA – On the evening of Sunday, September 21, 2025, a collision with a big rig left motorcyclist Isaac Ernesto Alvarado, 30, with fatal injuries, according to KGET.

The Bakersfield Police Department reports that the accident took place around 6:07 PM at the intersection of South Union Avenue and Welch Avenue in south Bakersfield.

Investigators said Alvarado had been riding westbound on Welch Avenue when the big rig approached from northbound South Union Avenue. The two vehicles entered the intersection and struck each other with deadly force.

The impact caused Alvarado to suffer critical injuries. Emergency personnel rushed him to Kern Medical, where doctors attempted life-saving treatments. Despite their efforts, Alvarado was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.

Authorities confirmed that the big rig driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. The Kern County Coroner’s Office identified Alvarado later.

The Bakersfield Police Department continues to investigate how both vehicles entered the intersection and what factors may have contributed to the crash.
