Fatal Rollover at Hwy 99, Kimberlina Rd in Slater, near Bakersfield

Slater, CA – On the evening of Friday, July 11, 2025, a single-vehicle rollover crash caused fatal injuries to at least one person, according to KBAK, with additional reporting from CHP Fatal.

The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 7:39 PM on the onramp to northbound Highway 99, just south of Kimberlina Road.

Authorities say a gray vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed while attempting to take the onramp when it rolled over under unclear circumstances.

It is not yet known how many occupants were inside the vehicle at the time of the crash. The Kern County Coroner’s Office was called to the scene at approximately 7:54 PM, confirming at least one fatality.

Investigators have not released the identity of the deceased, and the full extent of additional injuries, if any, remains unconfirmed. No other vehicles were reported to be involved in the collision.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation. Authorities have not yet determined whether alcohol or drugs played a role.

Single-Vehicle Collisions

In some cases, investigations may reveal that even in a single-vehicle accident, nearby drivers or unsafe road features share some responsibility. California’s Comparative Negligence rule means that, even if those injured in accidents are found partially at fault, they may still be eligible to receive partial compensation for damages.
