Fresno, CA – In the early hours of Friday, March 28, 2025, a woman was hospitalized after crashing her vehicle into a power pole and home, knocking out power to hundreds of residents in central Fresno, according to ABC30.
The Fresno Police Department reports that the crash occurred just before 1:30 AM near the intersection of Fresno Street and University Avenue.
Authorities say the driver, a woman in her 20s, was traveling in the area when she lost control of her vehicle. The car first struck a power pole before crashing into a nearby home.
The impact of the collision caused significant structural damage to the residence and led to a widespread power outage affecting hundreds of homes and businesses in the vicinity. Emergency crews responded quickly, working to extricate the driver from the wreckage. She was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.
PG&E crews are working to restore power to the affected area. Officials report that more than 200 homes and businesses between Clinton and McKinley avenues, as well as from Blackstone to Angus, remain without electricity.
Investigators are still determining the circumstances that led to the accident.
Single-Vehicle Collisions
In some cases, investigations may reveal that even in a single-vehicle accident, nearby drivers or unsafe road features share some responsibility. California’s Comparative Negligence rule means that even if those injured in accidents are found partially at fault, they may still be eligible to receive partial compensation for damages.
