Fresno Police Department officials responded to the scene after multiple calls, where they discovered that a bicyclist was struck by the driver of a passenger vehicle. The driver of the small SUV that struck the bicyclist remained on scene after the accident. Police suspect that they were intoxicated at the time.
Paramedics and numerous other local responders were called to the scene. They attempted life-saving measures to save the bicyclist, who was identified as a female in her 30s. She tragically succumbed to her traumatic injuries on scene. Nobody else was allegedly injured in the collision.
The driver of the vehicle was taken into custody for suspicion of driving under the influence.
No further details have been released but Fresno Police continue their investigation into the circumstances of the collision at this time.
