Around 5:20 a.m. on the morning of Thursday, a woman was killed in a fatal pedestrian accident in Kerman. The accident, according to information provided by ABC30, happened at the intersection of Highway 180 and Siskiyou Avenue on the morning of November 16, 2023.
Officials reported that a Fresno County Sherriff’s Office deputy was driving eastbound and on patrol when he suddenly collided with a woman who was walking across the street at the intersection. Police confirmed that the woman was unhoused and was collecting cans in the area at the time of the collision.
The officer remained on scene and waited for paramedics to arrive. Though the officer and paramedics tried to give the woman in her 60s aid, she was tragically pronounced dead on scene. Nobody else was hurt in the accident.
The road was completely blocked at the intersection for some time following the collision. Police urged drivers in the area to find alternate routes until the scene was cleared.
Fresno County officials continue their investigation into the circumstances of the accident.
