California Highway Patrol officials confirmed that a man was riding his bike near the intersection when he was suddenly struck by the driver of a passenger vehicle. The driver of the vehicle initially fled the scene but later returned to cooperate with police.
Several local responders, including Fresno EMS crews and firefighters, responded to the scene. The bicyclist was rushed to a local hospital for treatment of major injuries. At this time, his condition is not yet known.
The intersection was blocked in several lanes after the accident.
