When police arrived on scene, they found that a man was walking in the area when he was suddenly struck by a vehicle at the intersection. The driver, who police discovered had a suspended license and warrants, remained on scene and cooperated with police.
Paramedics and fire crews arrived on scene. The 77-year-old male pedestrian was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. He was tragically pronounced dead while there due to the extent of his injuries.
Police confirmed that the driver who struck the pedestrian was evaluated for possible DUI but they did not say if any charges were brought.
Fresno Police Department officials continue their investigation into the accident at this time.
