Man Killed in Fatal Head-on Collision in Sanger
One person tragically lost his life in a fatal car accident that took place on Tuesday afternoon in Sanger. According to Your Central Valley, the accident happened around 3:30 p.m. on Goodfellow Avenue just west of Rio Vista Avenue on August 22, 2023.
According to California Highway Patrol officials, the accident involved a 26-year-old female in a Chevrolet Silverado headed east on Goodfellow, a 58-year-old male in a BMW 328i headed westbound, a 24-year-old female in a Toyota Camry headed east in front of the Silverado, and a 49-year-old female in a Hyundai Accent behind the Silverado. The driver of the Silverado realized that she was getting too close to the Camry in front of her, as traffic slowed in the area. The driver turned the Silverado to the left to avoid a collision, causing it to collide with the Camry and veer into the opposite lane.
When the Silverado entered the other lane of traffic, it struck the BMW in the westbound lane head-on. The driver of the Hyundai attempted to avoid the collision but still collided with the Silverado.
When paramedics and fire crews arrived at the scene, they found the driver of the BMW with critical injuries. He was rushed to Adventist Hospital in Reedley but was tragically pronounced dead while there. The driver of the Silverado and the Hyundai were both taken to Kaiser Hospital with minor and moderate injuries. The driver of the Camry sustained minor injuries but was not hospitalized.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the accident for several hours as police cleared the scene.
California Highway Patrol in Fresno County continue their investigation into the circumstances of the accident at this time.
