On April 6, 2023, two women were tragically killed after being ejected from a vehicle in a rollover crash on the 110 in LA.
According to KTLA, just before 2AM, their vehicle hit an embankment and a tree and then rolled. The two women were ejected from the vehicle onto the freeway where they were then run over by a separate vehicle. The women were declared dead at the scene. California Highway Patrol said that it appears speed may have been a factor.
We are deeply saddened to hear of this terrible crash.
Compensation for passengers
In cases like this it is tough to determine what exactly happened. Given the time of day, many people will speculate that alcohol could’ve been a factor. Some people could try to blame the driver of the second vehicle, although the women may have been fatally injured prior to car #2 hitting them. Some people may wonder if the women were wearing a seat belt or not.
Anything is possible. The car could have had a manufacturer’s defect.
In this case, there is a very strong chance that the passenger’s family is eligible to file a wrongful death claim.
What’s a Wrongful Death Claim?
Insurers are probably not going to tell you about a wrongful death claim.
In Los Angeles, a wrongful death claim allows surviving family members to obtain compensation on behalf of their loved one. It usually involves suing the driver’s insurance company. Wrongful death claims can often involve a significant award, so insurers rarely tell people about their right to obtain compensation.
