Drivers on busy Fremont streets face constant risks from the reckless motorists around them. Other drivers can be looking at a phone or traveling at excessive speeds and force even safe motorists into crashes. Drivers may also get behind the wheel while under the influence of a drug or alcohol. These drivers put themselves and everyone traveling nearby in grave danger.
Modesto Man Killed in Fremont Traffic Crash
One driver was killed and another was hurt in a two-vehicle accident in northern Fremont Monday night. KRON-TV reports the accident occurred at the intersection of Niles Boulevard and Hillview Drive on February 6, 2023.
Fremont Police responded to the scene sometime around 8:30 p.m. Investigators determined that a 19-year-old Fremont man had been traveling southbound on Niles Boulevard. At the same time, a 53-year-old man from Modesto was traveling east on Hillview Drive and was attempting to make a left turn onto Niles. The 19-year-old’s car then struck the driver’s side of the other vehicle. The collision sent both vehicles into a parked car.
Fremont Firefighters had to help the man from Modesto out of his vehicle. Life-saving measures were performed on him, but tragically, he died at the scene. The 19-year-old victim was taken to a local trauma center with what were believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.
Police are waiting on a toxicology report to determine if drugs or alcohol could have played a role in the accident. They continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.
Finding Support for Victims and Their Families After a Fremont Car Accident
Victims of frightening collisions must often deal with long and difficult recoveries. And families who have lost a loved one will, of course, never completely get over the grief of such a heartbreaking tragedy.
The families of lost loved ones may file a wrongful death claim against an at-fault driver’s insurance company. This civil claim would seek help for the family with the costs of a funeral and emergency services fees. A claim also asks for assistance with the loss of income the deceased had always provided the family through employment.
For surviving victims, a claim for damages can prove the best option when trying to get every hospital bill covered. This is filed against an at-fault driver’s auto insurance provider. A settlement check would also need to reimburse victims for the wages and benefits they lose while missing work. The physical pain and emotional trauma experienced after a frightening accident should also earn compensation.
