One person died after a traffic accident involving a big rig Tuesday morning just north of Moss Landing. Accordingly, KION-TV
reports the accident took place around 8 a.m. along Highway 1 near Jetty Road on February 15, 2022.
The California Highway Patrol says the crash involved three vehicles. In addition, investigators found that a white Freightliner semi-truck traveling southbound drifted off the roadway. As a result, it overcorrected, and wound up in the northbound lanes. Afterward, the truck hit a Toyota Camry head-on and overturned on top of the car. The semi-truck then struck a Dodge Durango.
As a result, the driver of the Toyota, a man from Castroville, died on the scene. The Dodge Durango went to Natividad Medical Center in Salinas. We don’t currently know that drivers’ condition.
California Highway Patrol investigators say they don’t believe drugs or alcohol played a role in what happened.
