Hit-and-run pedestrian accidents in Bakersfield leave many victims behind. Injured pedestrians are left to try to recover from their sometimes severe injuries. And their families are left to worry over finding justice for their loved ones when a guilty driver remains unidentified.
The careless act of leaving the scene of an accident abandons a victim at the scene and can leave them waiting on care to arrive for several valuable minutes or more.
Pedestrian Injured By Hit-And-Run Driver in Bakersfield
The search is on for a hit-and-run suspect who police say struck a pedestrian Sunday evening and then took off. KGET-TV reports the accident occurred along Union Avenue near the frontage road to Truxtun Avenue sometime before 6:35 p.m. on January 2, 2022.
A pedestrian hit by a vehicle suffered moderate injuries and was rushed to Kern Medical for treatment. Investigators say the driver involved drove away after the accident.
A description of the driver and the vehicle has not yet been released. If you have any information about the driver or the vehicle involved, you are asked to call the Bakersfield Police Department.
Earning Support for Bakersfield Pedestrian Accident Victims
Besides just leaving victims to manage a difficult physical recovery, hit-and-run drivers also leave behind the bills that stem from their mistakes. Hospital and physical therapy expenses as well as the victim’s lost time at work can all combine to trap patients in a financial hole they may never get out of.
These financial issues should rest fully on the at-fault driver’s shoulders, but that can be impossible until a hit-and-run suspect is caught. If the driver isn’t apprehended, victims can petition their own car insurance policy for help under their uninsured motorist coverage. If they aren’t covered by their own policy might be protected under a family member’s policy.
