Pedestrians crossing Fresno at night must often face less than safe conditions as they walk about the city. They can be asked to cross seven or more lanes of traffic in areas of Fresno without proper lighting along streets and sidewalks. Those on foot proceed at much more risk of severe injury than anyone else who uses the road.
It’s because of this vulnerability that pedestrians are due what’s known as a special “duty of care” from motorists, no matter the circumstances. Drivers in Fresno must always proceed at safe speeds while paying proper attention to the lanes ahead of them. When this “duty of care” is ignored, drivers can be held responsible for the injuries they cause when striking a defenseless pedestrian.

Assistance for Fresno Pedestrian Accident Victims and Their Families
Pedestrians must far too often confront speeding traffic to get to their destinations. This puts them at great risk of accidents and major injuries when drivers get careless and stop monitoring the roadway for other motorists and pedestrians who might be nearby.
If a collision occurs, pedestrians are permitted to seek support to help with their medical costs from the driver’s car insurance company. This claim for damages filed by the victim or the victim’s family can cover the expensive costs of medical care and help replace the lost wages an injured victim forfeits while missing work.
Insurance companies can attempt to escape blame for a victim’s hardships after an accident. Turning over a pedestrian accident case to a skilled personal injury lawyer can help make sure pedestrians get fair compensation for what they’ve been through, even if they are found partially to blame for their accident.
