Pedestrian Dangers At Night On Blackstone Avenue in Fresno

Pedestrians in busy sections of Fresno must often walk four blocks or more to find a crosswalk. They can also be asked to cross seven lanes of traffic in mere seconds.

These hazards only cover a small part of the difficulties those on foot have when traveling the city. Distracted drivers present the biggest danger to pedestrians.

These drivers may think they only have to be on the lookout for pedestrians near intersections, but legally that’s not true. Because of the unprotected nature of any pedestrian traveling near vehicle traffic, drivers are required to show an extra level of care no matter where the pedestrian may be crossing.

This special “duty of care” can make drivers liable for their lack of focus on the roads and responsible for the costs of recovery the victim endures.

Pedestrian Hospitalized After Struck By Car in Fresno

A man was rushed to the hospital after getting hit by a car in Fresno, Monday night. ABC30-TV reports the accident occurred near the intersection of Blackstone Avenue and Shields Avenue near the Manchester Center Mall on September 13, 2021.

The Fresno Police Department responded to the scene around 8 p.m. They found the victim near the center divider. The 49-year-old man was still conscious. He was transported to the hospital.

The driver involved stopped and cooperated with police officers. Investigators are still working to determine the circumstances of the accident.

Finding Help After a Fresno Pedestrian Accident

The families of pedestrian victims will be worried over the physical recovery of a loved one. They will also be concerned over the enormous hospital bills set to arrive in the weeks to come.

With these financial hardships and the losses of paychecks, while the victim is away from work, a claim for damages can be filed. This claim targets the at-fault driver’s car insurance and asks for support while the victim recovers.

The victim may even be assigned some of the blame for the accident, but the driver may also have to accept a substantial portion of the responsibility. The at-fault driver could still have to provide partial compensation to the pedestrian for his or her percentage of the blame. Victims might still earn a sizable award to help get them back on their feet.
