Pedestrian Accident Dangers In Southern Bakersfield CA

Pedestrians in sections of southern Bakersfield can face real challenges to their safety at any time of day. There are many roads in this part of the city that aren’t equipped with sidewalks. Other stretches can be lacking regular crosswalks and proper lighting to force those on foot to risk their lives to get anywhere they need to go.

Careless drivers don’t do their part to reduce the hazards either. A distracted driver can fail to spot a pedestrian walking on the side of the road and allow their vehicles far too close to the curb. Drivers have a legal responsibility to show a special “duty of care” because of the defenseless and unprotected nature of anyone traveling on foot.

Pedestrian Killed After Getting Hit by Car in Bakersfield

A man tragically lost his life after getting hit by a vehicle in southern Bakersfield Tuesday evening. KGET-TV says police were called to the 5400 block of Taft Highway shortly after 8:45 p.m. on August 31, 2021.

Officers report they found a man down on the north shoulder of the road. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

The driver involved in the collision remained on the scene to cooperate with investigators. Bakersfield Police do not believe drugs or alcohol played a part in the accident.

Taft Highway remains a dangerous place for anyone on foot. It was less than a week ago that another man was tragically killed along Taft Highway near Ashe Road. That deadly accident occurred on Friday, August 29th.

Earning Support for Families After Bakersfield Pedestrian Accidents

Families need to be provided time to process the tragic loss of a loved one. They don’t need the extra worry over emergency response fees or paying for a proper burial and funeral service. These expenses can come due all too quickly and leave a family experiencing intense emotional trauma to also face financial issues.

Close relatives under such extreme stress can seek to protect family members by filing a wrongful death lawsuit against an at-fault driver’s car insurance provider. This civil claim asks for help in paying the expenses that arise after a tragic accident. A wrongful death claim also requests support to protect the family from financial turmoil in the future when they’ll be without the guidance and financial support the deceased had always provided.
