Accidents Involving Semi-Trucks On Bakersfield Highways

Distracted drivers can make for a dangerous trip on Bakersfield highways at any hour. One glance at a text message or an incoming call can force a driver’s eyes from the road and leave him or her unable to track what vehicles ahead are doing.

These lapses in judgment are even more dangerous when the drivers of heavy trucks allow themselves to become distracted. The weight and the shape of transport and delivery trucks can lead to terrible collisions involving much smaller vehicles with less protection. Drivers and passengers can suffer devastating injuries and face long medical recoveries.

Car’s Driver Injured In Bakersfield Crash Involving Two Semi-Trucks

A man had to be rescued from his car after a collision involving two large trucks in Bakersfield on Thursday evening. KGET-TV reports the accident happened just before 6 p.m. along Highway 58 near the Chester Avenue interchange on July 8, 2021.

The California Highway Patrol found that the driver of a yellow Semi rear-ended the driver of a white Nissan. The yellow Semi also pushed forward to hit the back of a second semi-truck. The Nissan wound up under the cab of the yellow Semi. Rescue crews used a crane to lift the truck and rescue the driver.

The driver was alert but was suffering from severe injuries. He was rushed to the hospital.

CHP Investigators believed distracted driving may have caused the collision. They were checking into reports that the driver of the yellow Semi was using a cellphone at the time of the crash.

Support for Victims in Bakersfield Accidents

Victims of scary crashes can end up in the hospital for more than just a night. They can require medical care and physical therapy for weeks or months after a collision. At some point, victims and their families will begin to question why they have to pay for the hospital bills in a collision caused by someone else.

In these cases, victims can bring a claim for damages against an at-fault driver and his or her insurance provider. This claim could request help with all medical expenses now and those expected in the future. The lost time at work for the victim can also be reimbursed.

In accidents involving work trucks, there may be several parties that can be held liable for an accident. A truck driver’s personal car insurance may apply. The local company the driver may work for could also have insurance coverage to call upon. A personal injury attorney can investigate to better determine how many parties can be found at fault and asked to lend support to a victim.
