Motorcycle Accidents Involving U-Turns in Arvin CA

Motorcyclists can do everything possible to alert drivers to their presence and yet still run the real risk of an accident every time they ride. Drivers can get distracted and not give themselves enough time to check in all directions before changing lanes or making a turn.

This lack of attention can cause motorists to overlook a motorcycle and suddenly put that rider in an extremely dangerous situation.

Kern County emergency responders document the terrible consequences of these mistakes seen on local roads each year. In 2020 they recorded 271 accidents involving motorcycles across the county. Those accidents resulted in 282 injuries and claimed a heartbreaking 37 lives.

The California Highway Patrol says the driver of a Chevy Suburban pulling a trailer was stopped on the right shoulder of the southbound lanes and then attempted a U-Turn. The turn put the vehicle in the path of Kawasaki Motorcycle approaching from the rear. The actions of the driver of the Suburban resulted in a crash.

The 19-year-old Bakersfield man on the motorcycle suffered major injuries and was taken to Kern Medical where he later passed away. The driver of the Suburban and one passenger were also taken to Kern Medical with injuries.

Finding Support for Families After Arvin Motorcycle Accidents

Families will understandably experience extreme grief and often some frustration after losing a loved one in an accident that could have been prevented. A little more attention paid to the road could have avoided such a terrible tragedy.

For close relatives robbed of the emotional support a loved one had always provided, filing a wrongful death lawsuit may be necessary to safeguard the family moving forward. This civil claim asks that at-fault drivers and their insurance providers step up to help cover the costs associated with a sudden loss of life.

This claim can stabilize the family now and in the future, as they face the years ahead without the love and financial support the victim would have provided. A wrongful death claim can also ask for assistance for the family in covering funeral and burial costs and ambulance and hospital bills.

This claim can be brought forward by a spouse or domestic partner, children of the victim, or in some cases the parents of the deceased. An attorney can file a wrongful death claim on behalf of the family and make sure evidence from the accident is properly documented and witnesses are located. This evidence can become very important later because insurance companies are known for trying to shift blame in accidents to a motorcyclist no matter what an accident report from a CHP officer says.
