Pedestrian Accidents On Bellaire Way In Fresno CA

Pedestrians should be given safe paths to walk no matter where they are in Fresno. Crosswalks should be provided at regular intervals and drivers need to be reminded to show caution when sharing the road with pedestrians, especially at night. These basic safety measures aren’t always addressed on Fresno streets and the consequences for those on foot can be severe.

California’s Office of Traffic Safety highlights the increasing danger to those on foot across California. Over a five-year period, pedestrian accidents that proved fatal rose by 26% statewide. California’s pedestrian fatality rate is almost 25% higher than the national average. In 2018, more than 14,000 California pedestrians suffered injuries in accidents.

These are all tragic numbers that need more attention for the sake of pedestrians in Fresno and in every California city.

Accident Leaves Pedestrian in Critical Condition in Fresno

A pedestrian was rushed to the hospital after getting hit by a car in northeast Fresno early Friday morning. ABC30-TV reports the accident happened around 12:30 a.m. near the intersection of Cedar Avenue and Bellaire Way on February 19, 2021.

Fresno Police say a security guard was driving the car that hit the victim. The security guard called 911 to get help. The victim, a man in his early 60s, was taken to Community Regional Medical Center. The man was listed in critical condition.

Investigators say that they will review security video taken by a camera in the guard’s vehicle to determine what happened.

Finding Assistance for Fresno Pedestrian Accident Victims

People on foot move about the city under constant threat from careless and distracted drivers who don’t show proper care when traveling on streets that also belong to pedestrians. Motorists are required to show a “duty of care” to any pedestrian they come upon even if they aren’t in crosswalks. That extra care should be all the more in use at night when visibility is reduced.

Victims who end up getting hit and seriously hurt by a vehicle can get help with the costs of recovery by filing a claim for damages against the at-fault driver’s insurance coverage. This claim can firmly request support for ambulance fees, hospital stays, and any rehabilitation needed in the future. Compensation can also be earned to help recover lost wages at work.

An attorney can help you collect evidence, gather documents, and contact witnesses to make sure you have a strong case to bring to an insurance company. Your legal representative can also make sure insurance companies can’t send you into a maze of phone representatives, stalling you until you get desperate enough to accept their first lowball offer.
