Downtown Fresno Pedestrian Accidents Along Highway 99

Pedestrians should be offered safe ways to travel Fresno, especially when trying to get over and around major highways. But sometimes these highways offer major obstacles to people on foot when proper crosswalks and pedestrian bridges aren’t provided.

When pedestrians are forced to walk vulnerable to fast-moving traffic terrible accidents can occur. Careless drivers who should be paying attention to the road and anyone traveling on it can be staring at a text message or distracted by the scenery when a dangerous collision occurs.

After a driver’s mistake, the emotional pain for family and friends of the victim only intensifies when an accident suddenly turns into a hit-and-run incident. A driver speeds away from the scene to avoid the consequences of a senseless error on the road.

Support for Families After Fresno Pedestrian Accidents

Families who lose a loved one to a pedestrian accident will want justice for the victim. However, that closure can be hard to find when a hit-and-run suspect remains on the run and unidentified. Families can also be the target of unbelievable high medical costs, ambulance fees, and funeral expenses while they are just trying to find ways to cope with a tragedy.

To gain help after the loss of a loved one, families can file a wrongful death claim against the driver once he or she is found and arrested. A close relative like a spouse or domestic partner, children of the deceased, and even parents of the victim can represent the entire family when they file this civil lawsuit.

The lawsuit demands compensation from the driver’s insurance company. This compensation can provide financial help to pay for all the bills that result from a person’s death. The money the victim had provided the family through weekly employment can also be recovered. The financial and emotional assistance the victim would have provided a husband or wife and children in the years to come can also be estimated and awarded.

If a suspect remains on the run and gets away with this indefensible act, a family may be able to secure money from the victim’s own car insurance policy or the policy of a family member that covered the victim. This claim would be under the insurance policy’s uninsured motorists coverage and could provide the family compensation in the wake of a death.
