Clovis Pedestrian Accidents With Injuries

Pedestrians can take their life in their hands whenever they must leave the safety of a sidewalk to cross a street. Drivers should always be taking extra care around defenseless pedestrians, but sometimes distracted motorists, looking at anything but the road ahead, can put them at high risk.

A glance down at a cellphone or a reach for a cup of coffee can take mere moments of a driver’s attention but in that time a vehicle may have traveled a hundred feet and straight towards a pedestrian trying to get across a street.

Fresno County sees dozens of frightening collisions between motor vehicles and pedestrians each year. The Statewide Integrated Traffic Record System reveals that the county saw 107 pedestrian accidents involving vehicles in 2019. Those incidents led to 90 injuries and a tragic 29 people killed.

The driver of the mini-van remained on the scene to participate in the investigation.

Support for Victims in Fresno County Pedestrian Accidents

Being struck by a careless driver can change your life in an instant. The recovery can be long and challenging and the emotional toll can be just as difficult.

In the aftermath of a pedestrian accident, it’s important to ensure the victim is allowed to heal and rehabilitate without having to worry about how to pay for things like rent, a mortgage, the power bill, and other basic necessities. These financial burdens can include expensive hospital bills and come at a time when the victim may be missing valuable time at work and losing paychecks.

When bills start to pile up, it’s fair to ask if the at-fault driver and his or her insurance company will be held accountable for your painful injuries. A claim for damages filed against the driver’s coverage can help reimburse you for your bills now and those expected in the future.

In California, victims are allowed to wait up to two years after an accident to file a civil lawsuit of this nature. It’s always helpful to file as soon as possible. The sooner you file the sooner insurance agents will have the lawsuit on their desks so they can respond to it. It’s also harder to gather evidence and request documents needed if you wait months or years to start building your case.
