Boxer Attacks – California Dog Bite Lawyer

A Boxer is a dog of large stature that has a strong and muscular body that was originally bred for hunting. The Boxer’s muzzle and underbite were bred for purposes of allowing Boxers to clamp their strong jaws around prey with a bite of about 235 pounds per square inch. Boxers might stand as high as 27 inches at the shoulder and weigh 80 pounds. Given their size and strength, Boxers are dogs that can do severe damage to a human. Skin can be punctured, muscles, tendons and nerves can be torn, and even bones can be fractured by a Boxer’s bite.

Boxers as Family Dogs

As per the American Kennel Club Boxers are smart dogs with great courage. They’re loyal to their families and interact well with children. As household guardians, they eagerly accept the responsibilities of watchdogs. One theory is that Boxers were given their name because upon being happy to see a person, they’ll jump up on their hind legs to greet him or her. Its front legs in the air look as if the dog is boxing the person. Although typically of a playful demeanor, Boxers might accidentally injure a person, especially a child. It’s best to socialize Boxers with children, other people and other dogs early. If a Boxer attacks a human, its large size and strong jaws are fearsome. The breed is often used as police dogs or guide dogs for humans who are visually impaired.

Why Might Boxers Attack?

Some Boxers might attack a person if the dog isn’t properly trained. Other Boxers might attack somebody on command, because it has been trained to do so. A Boxer might also attack a person who it believes is threatening a family member or invading its personal territory. Most Boxers are like another kid in the family though. Boxers can also be aggressive with other large dogs or dogs of the same gender. This can put a Boxer owner in the middle of a dangerous fight.

When a Boxer in Arizona fought with another dog in the same household, a 64-year-old owner who tried to break up the fight was killed by the Boxer. A 4-year-old boy in Louisiana was attacked and killed by three Boxers that were out of their pen while it was being cleaned. In South Caroline, a 52-year-old woman was playing with her two boxers when one of them suddenly attacked her arm. That prompted the second dog to attack her other arm. She bled to death
