Bakersfield, CA — Just after noon on Monday, October 19, 2026, a motorcyclist was injured in a collision which also involved a pickup truck, according to KBAK.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident took place at approximately 12:10 PM in the 2400 block of Edison Highway near Exchange Street, just south of East Side Canal in an industrial area of east Bakersfield.
CHP incident logs stated that fire personnel performed CPR on one of those involved in the collision, although the seriousness of the motorcycle rider’s injuries has not been released.
The crash blocked Edison Highway’s westbound lanes but cleared soon after.
No further details regarding the identities of the people or vehicles involved or what may have led to the crash have been released. This is an ongoing investigation.
Bakersfield Motorcycle Accidents and Personal Injury Claims
Because California law operates under the legal principle of comparative negligence, fault in an accident like this is not an all-or-nothing proposition. CHP investigators will examine evidence at the crash site and take witness statements to determine the degree to which the actions of the motorcyclist and the driver of the other vehicle may have contributed to the accident.
If the other driver is found at least partly at fault, the motorcyclist may have grounds to pursue a personal injury claim with the driver’s insurance provider. If the motorcyclist’s own negligence is found to have shared responsibility for the crash, any settlement may be reduced, but that would not prohibit them from seeking compensation.
