Fresno County, CA — In the early hours of Thursday, October 15, 2026, a single-vehicle collision resulted in one of the occupants losing his life and the other being hospitalized, according to ABC30, with additional details from The Fresno Bee.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the fatal accident took place at 12:10 AM at the intersection of Friant Road and Belcher Street (reported as Belcher Road elsewhere) in the southern Friant area, just outside of Cliff Finch’s Topiary Zoo.
According to investigators, an unregistered McLaren 720S Spider convertible had been traveling northbound on Friant Road when, for reasons not yet determined, the driver lost control of the vehicle. The McLaren struck the median and flipped, and CHP officers found it on its roof when they arrived.
While the driver, described as a 25-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene, the vehicle’s passenger survived and received transportation to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries.
CHP has stated that drugs or alcohol do not appear to have been factors in this fatal accident.
